Noah's Poem

Okay, so I know I said I would put up some of my old poetry up, but right at the moment my book that all my poems are in is in our storage shed in a box. And, I'm not exactly sure which one. So, I finally found this poem that I started to write about 2 months ago. It is not finished yet, but here is what I have so far.

My sweet little man with a contagious grin
You fill my heart with the love of a mother
Big brownie eyes--joy-filled and innocent
One peeking dimple appears in contentment
Such great excitement and energy barely contained
Emotions expressed with your body complete
Typically active, lively and interested
Yet, uniquely mild-mannered curiosity

Let me know what you think.

Memories

I still remember the fun I had Not having a care in the world-- Riding bike and climbing trees, Swimming on hot summer days, Reading in bed 'til I fell asleep. Many times I wish to be there, Filling my days with so much. Then there were the friends We swore we would always be; As we grew, they faded away, But there was one who stayed-- That one I can never forget. As much as I long to be carefree, I'd never give up the freedom: So many more options now, And ever so many decisions. But if I didn't have it all, When would I ever learn? So much to look forward to: Doing what I've always wanted-- Giving and helping so many, Fulfilling my wildest dreams, Beginning a miraculous love. Life is full of such great wonder-- We must remember the past, Never forget the future plans, But always live for today! --July 14, 2003 I was feeling pretty reminiscent the day I wrote this, remembering my childhood. The part about a friend never forgotten is about my best friend who I had growi...

The Picture Perfect Yard

I was switching laundry over in the laundry room and happened to look over at the footage of our security cameras (mounted on the roof of the house), and I noticed how absolutely beautiful my front yard looks right now. The grass is a beautiful dark green and looks full and nicely trimmed. The palm trees are tall and trimmed. It looks absolutely picture perfect. I found this amusing because I know when I'm outside and looking at my front yard that it is not perfect AT ALL. The grass is growing unevenly. There are bare spots. The palm trees are just about ready to be trimmed again. And there is a giant dead tree that needs to be cut down because large branches keep falling off. Then, I thought how much we are like my yard. At a distance, we might look pretty picture perfect to others, but if we really get up close and personal with each other, we begin to see each other's imperfections and areas that need work. And if we really truly get to know one another, we get glimpses of...

Addendum to "Political Rant"

I was just rereading what I wrote earlier and realized that there were a few other things that I wanted to mention but had forgotten. First, I want to let you know that I know the health care system is broken. I do believe that insurance costs and the cost of getting care are too high, but just to reiterate, I do not believe that government run health care is the answer. I also do not think it is right that insurance companies purposely find loopholes in people's policies just so they won't have to pay for their care. That is just sick and wrong. But again, I don't believe putting the government in charge of things would make anything any better. Having said that, I also know that I would much prefer paying a lot of money to get the care from the doctor I want and the hospital I want than to have someone tell me who I can or cannot see. I also like knowing that if something horrible happened to me or one of my family members, we wouldn't have to worry about getting the ...
